Make changes from your AI

How your AI suggests changes and asks before anything hard to undo, and which changes stay in Cranes.

Ask for a change the way you’d say it: “rename the onboarding page to First week”, “share the pricing topic with the design group”, “invite sam@example.com as an admin”. Your AI makes it in Cranes, as you, and tells you what changed.

It can only do what you can do in Cranes, and only with the thinking you let it use. If you’re a member, it can’t do what only owners and admins can; it tells you Cranes said no.

When your AI suggests a change

When a conversation shows a page is out of date, misnamed, in the wrong topic, or worth sharing, your AI may suggest a change: rename, move, archive, or restore a page, rename a topic, record that you see a page differently now, or share a page.

It tells you what it would change and what your thinking says about it. Nothing changes until you say yes. The suggestion is never kept as your words.

Changes that ask first

Before anything that removes something or is hard to take back, your AI asks, naming what it touches the way you know it: “Remove Sam from the team”, “Take back the copy of “Pricing” shared with the team”. That includes:

  • removing an entry, a group, a person from a group or the team, an email domain, or a source;
  • withdrawing an invitation, or changing someone’s role;
  • moving a page or topic out of your own thinking, or taking back a share;
  • stopping a live share or removing one of its readers;
  • relearning a workspace, or starting your own thinking over from your entries;
  • turning a personal workspace into a team.

Apps that support it show their own prompt with Yes, make this change. Others ask in the chat, and go ahead only after you agree. If you say no, nothing changes.

Connecting a source works the same way: your AI gives you the link to approve in Slack, Linear, Jira, GitHub, Granola, or Notion, and nothing connects until you do.

Your choices win

Renames, moves, pins, and archives you make from your AI are your choices, exactly as if you’d made them in Cranes. They win over later learning and follow a page through redrafts. See Pin, rename, and move.

What stays in Cranes

These you do in Cranes itself:

  • Threads.
  • Your password, two-step sign-in, and single sign-on.
  • Billing.
  • Deleting your account or a team, and handing a team to a new owner.
  • What each connected AI may use, group switches for connected AIs, and the team’s connected-AI settings. An AI never widens its own access, even when asked.

Entries kept off connected AIs can’t be named or changed from an AI either.
