Claude

Add Cranes to Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile as a custom connector, and optionally have a project use it on its own.

Cranes connects to Claude as a custom connector. Once it’s added on claude.ai, it works in the Claude desktop and mobile apps too.

Add Cranes

  1. In Cranes, open the account menu and choose Connect your AI, then Claude Connectors on the Claude card. Claude opens Add custom connector with Cranes’s name and address filled in.
  2. Choose Add, then Connect beside Cranes.
  3. Sign in to Cranes when asked, choose what Claude may use, and choose Allow.

To add it yourself instead, open Claude’s connector settings, choose to add a custom connector, name it Cranes, and use the address https://usecranes.com/connect/mcp. Leave any client ID and secret empty. Where these settings live, and which plans include custom connectors, is in Claude’s own help.

What’s automatic, and what depends on Claude

Claude decides when to call Cranes. Cranes asks it to check before work where your thinking could matter, on follow-ups too, and to stay out of general questions, and Claude usually does. To be sure it checks, type @cranes; on its own, it checks the work against your thinking. See When Cranes comes in.

To make it more reliable in a project, copy the line under Have your AI use Cranes on its own on Take it with you and paste it into the project’s instructions. The line names whose thinking to use, so the whole project uses the same one.

Claude shows Cranes’s reader for your contents, pages, and what needs you, and asks with its own prompt before a change that’s hard to undo when it supports one; otherwise it asks in the chat. See Read your thinking inside your AI and Make changes from your AI.
