Archive a page or topic

Take a page or topic out of a place and out of what your AIs receive, without deleting anything.

Archiving takes a page out of its place and out of what Cranes brings into threads and connected AIs. Nothing is deleted, and you can restore it at any time.

Archive a page

Choose ⋯ beside the page’s title, then Archive. You’ll see “Archived. Connected AIs no longer receive it.”

Archive a topic

Open the topic, choose ⋯, then Archive with its pages. The topic and every page in it are archived together.

A page Cranes places in that topic later isn’t archived. Home lists it under Needs a look so it doesn’t slip by.

Restore

Once something is archived, Archived appears at the foot of the sidebar. It lists archived topics, with their pages, and archived pages on their own. Choose Restore beside one to bring it back. Restoring a topic brings back the pages archived with it. Something you moved to another place shows Move back instead.

An archived page also says so at the top, with Restore beside it.

Who can archive

In Just me, you. In a group, any member. In Everyone, the team’s owners and admins.

What archiving does and doesn’t do

  • The page leaves the place, search, and what threads and connected AIs receive.
  • The entries behind it stay. An entry that supports only archived pages is left out of what connected AIs receive too; one that also supports a live page stays in use.
  • The page may keep developing. If new entries support it again, Home says it “came back up.” It’s never restored without you.

Archive or remove?

Archiving changes how a place is laid out: this page doesn’t belong here. If the problem is the material itself, go to the entry and choose Don’t learn from this or Remove now. That changes every page it supports. See Change, share, or remove an entry.
