Open Cranes

What "For you" means

The list at the top of Home of what’s waiting for your choice, anywhere in the workspace.

Some things wait for a person to decide. Cranes never settles them for you and never hides them in Settings. They’re listed under For you, at the top of Home, for every place in the workspace. The weekly team email lists them too.

Each item says what it’s about and offers a choice or two. It goes away once it’s done, or when you choose to leave it. When one person settles a shared decision, like a shared page or a Slack channel, it’s settled for everyone it waited on.

A page shared with the team

Shared page · For a team’s owners and admins.

Someone shared one of their pages with the team. Everyone is already learning from it with everything else. Choose Adopt to make it the team’s position as written, or Leave it. See Adopt a page as the team’s position.

Something for the team, from a group

For a group’s members, in a team.

  • A correction for the team? or A finding about a page: when Slack, Linear, or Jira feeds a group, something said there may matter to Everyone. Cranes keeps it in the group and never adds it to Everyone on its own.
  • Share a page with the team?: the group settled something that changes how others work, like a decision, a limit, or a date, and Cranes wrote a short version for Everyone.

Each shows the words it’s about. Choose Share to add it to Everyone, or Keep in group.

The team asked about a group’s page

Asked in Slack, Linear, or Jira · For a group’s members, in a team.

Someone asked Cranes something in a team tool that only your group’s page answers. Choose Share to give the page to Everyone, See question to read where it was asked, or Keep in group. The person who started the group can also choose Open the group, so everyone on the team can read it.

A Slack channel that needs a place

Slack · For a team’s owners and admins.

Someone mentioned @Cranes in a channel nobody has chosen a place for yet, so Cranes couldn’t answer there. Choose Choose to pick which place the channel feeds, or Not now.

A source that stopped

Source · For a team’s owners and admins.

A source stopped reading because the group it fed was deleted, Cranes was removed from Slack, or the service refused Cranes’ access. Choose Fix it to open it in Settings.

You were added to a group

Group · Just for you.

Someone added you to a group, and you get an email too. The item says whether your connected AIs can use the group. Choose Open it, Leave, or Got it. Where it applies, you can also let your AIs use it, or choose Keep off AIs.

Connected AIs that can’t use this workspace yet

Connected AIs · Just for you.

Your connected AIs can use nothing in a workspace until you allow it, often because you joined it after connecting them. Choose Allow to let them use it when you name it, Choose to pick what each may use, or Not now.
