Share or move chapters to the team or a group
Offer a chapter of your own thinking to shared thinking, keep it up to date, or take it back.
A chapter in your own thinking can be useful to your team or a group. You can share what it says, or move it there entirely. Either way you stay credited, and nothing syncs without you.
Share what it says now
- Open the chapter and choose ⋯ beside its title.
- Under Share what it says now, choose With the team or a group.
The chapter’s text, as it reads today, becomes an entry in that thinking, credited to you. It’s learned in that thinking’s next pass, which sharing starts right away, as one member’s view. Your chapter stays in your own thinking, and now says where it was shared.
When your chapter changes, it says “It has changed since,” with Share the update beside it. The shared copy doesn’t update on its own.
To take it back, choose Stop sharing on the chapter. What you shared is removed from there, words and all, along with anything that thinking learned from it. Your own chapter is untouched.
Move it
Move to the team or Move to a group, in the same menu, shares and archives in one step. Use it when a chapter really belongs to shared work rather than to you.
- In a group, or on the team when you’re an owner or admin, the chapter is published there at once as your credited chapter and opens in its new home.
- Otherwise the team learns it in its next pass.
Your copy is archived and reads Moved to…. Move back takes it back and restores it here. For a part you moved, choose Move back on the part.
Whole parts
A part’s ⋯ menu offers the same: Share its chapters shares each live chapter in it, and Move to… moves the part with its chapters. A part moved into a group, or into the team by an owner or admin, arrives as a part of the same name. A shared one doesn’t, because the thinking it lands in arranges its own parts.
Where things can go
From your own thinking, you can share or move to the team or any of your groups in the same workspace. In your personal workspace, that means groups you started; for a group someone else started, add notes and files on its Entries page, or talk in its threads. From a group’s thinking, you can share with the team. Nothing moves between groups or into anyone’s own thinking.
