Adopt a chapter as the team's position
For owners and admins, turn one member’s shared chapter into what the team stands by.
Most of the team’s thinking comes from weighing what many people say. Sometimes, though, a team wants to settle something: this is how we do it. Adopting a chapter makes it the team’s position.
Only a team’s owners and admins can adopt. Groups have no owners or admins, so adoption is for teams only.
Adopt a chapter
There are two ways:
- When sharing your own chapter, choose ⋯, then under Share what it says now, choose With the team, adopted as the team’s.
- For a chapter someone shared, switch to the team’s thinking, open Entries, click the shared chapter, and choose Adopt as the team’s.
The team’s thinking publishes it at once, exactly as it was shared. It reads “Adopted as the team’s position by … on …, from …'s chapter,” and connected AIs receive it as the team’s adopted position.
What changes
An adopted chapter holds still. Later passes never revise, merge, or retire it. Where members’ work departs from it, Cranes records those as exceptions in the team’s thinking, and owners and admins see on the front page when they build up. That’s a signal to look again, not something Cranes decides for you.
If the person who shared it later shares an update, you can adopt the newer version.
Stop adopting
Open the chapter in the team’s thinking and choose Stop adopting. It goes back to being learned like any other chapter, as one member’s view.
