Open Cranes

Connect your AI

Add Cranes to Claude, ChatGPT, a coding agent, or any AI that supports MCP, and choose what it can use.

Connecting takes a minute. You add Cranes in your AI, sign in to Cranes when it asks, and choose what it may use.

  1. In Cranes, choose Use in other AIs in the sidebar.
  2. Under Add an AI (or Add another AI), find your app and follow its card: a link that opens your AI’s connector settings, a command to copy, or the address to paste.
  3. Your AI sends you to Cranes. Sign in if asked.
  4. On Connect … to Cranes, choose what it can use, then choose Allow.
  5. Back in your AI, start a new conversation and type @cranes with something you’ve thought about.

Each AI has its own steps: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Meta Muse, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, opencode, Antigravity, and Pi, and any other AI that supports MCP.

The address

Every AI adds Cranes at the same address. There’s no key to create:

https://usecranes.com/connect/mcp

Look for a setting like Connectors, Integrations, or MCP servers, add it as a remote server, and leave any key or client fields empty.

The screen where you choose

Every AI ends on the same Cranes screen, Connect … to Cranes:

  • What it can use: a checkbox for your own thinking, the team’s, and each of your groups, in every workspace you’re in. Everything in your current workspace starts checked; nothing elsewhere does. Groups kept off connected AIs are shown but can’t be checked. The AI never sees anything you leave unchecked.
  • Include groups you join later: for each workspace where you checked something. On for your current workspace to start. A later group comes in only when you name it.
  • Keep my own ideas: whether Cranes keeps your own words when you ask it for your thinking, never the AI’s replies. On to start. See What your AI saves to Cranes.

Choose Allow, and you go back to your AI. You can change all of this later. See Choose what an AI can use.
