Delete something, or your whole account
How to remove one entry, a group, or everything, and what each one leaves behind.
One entry
Open Entries, click the entry, and choose Remove now. Its words are deleted immediately, and any chapter that rested on it is rewritten from what remains. To have something deleted later, set Keep until a date instead. See Control how an entry is used.
Something a connected AI kept
Open that conversation from your threads list, where it’s marked with the AI’s app, and choose Remove beside the passage. For things an AI saved at your request, remove the entry from your Entries page.
A chapter
You can’t delete a chapter directly, because it’s a reading of your entries. Remove the entries behind it and it’s rewritten or retired, or archive it to take it out of the book. See Archive a chapter or part.
A thread
Archiving a thread hides it but doesn’t delete it. To delete something you said in a thread, remove that message’s entry from your Entries page. Its words are deleted everywhere, including the thread, which shows “You removed this message” in its place.
A group
The group’s creator can delete it from the group’s People page. In a team, the team’s owners and admins can also delete it from Settings › Groups. When the last person leaves a group, it’s deleted. Either way, its thinking, entries, and threads are deleted for everyone. See Start and run a group.
Your whole account
There’s no button for this yet. Write to hello@cranesintelligence.com from the address you use for Cranes and ask us to delete your account. The same address handles requests to see or correct your personal information.
Things you shared with a team or group are part of their thinking, credited to you. If you’d like those removed too, choose Stop sharing on chapters you shared and Remove now on entries you shared a copy of, or say so in your email.
