Help Your thinking

Chapters shared with you, and the Library

Read chapters other people shared with you, bring them into your answers, make one yours, or find public ones in the Library.

When someone shares a chapter of their thinking with you, it appears under Shared in your contents, below your own parts, in every workspace. A dot marks one that changed since you last read it.

Read it

Choose a chapter under Shared. It reads as it does for the person who shared it, with its quotes and figure, and it keeps up as their thinking changes. Under the title, it says who it’s from and when it was last updated.

If they archived the chapter or their thinking moved on, it says so. You keep the last version, and it no longer updates.

Use it in your answers

While a chapter is in your Shared list, it can shape your own answers, in Cranes threads and in the AIs you’ve connected, whenever it bears on what you’re asking. It’s credited to the person who shared it, as their view, not yours. It isn’t used when you ask for the team or a group, and Cranes never learns from it into your own thinking.

Make it yours

To take a chapter on as your own, choose ⋯ beside its title, then Make it yours…. It goes into your own thinking, in the workspace you’re in, as an entry credited to the person who shared it. Cranes learns it into your book like anything else you add, and from then on you can change it. It leaves Shared and no longer updates from them.

Remove it

Choose ⋯ beside its title, then Remove from Shared. It stops shaping your answers. If it was shared with you by email, you can add it back from its link.

The Library

Library in your contents is a shelf of chapters people made public. Search by idea, title, or person, and sort by Newest or Most added. Each card shows the chapter’s figure or title, its opening line, who wrote it, and how many people added it.

Choose a card to read the chapter. Choose Add, or ⋯ › Add to Shared on the chapter, to put it in your Shared list.

A link to a public chapter opens for anyone, even without Cranes. A link to a chapter shared with anyone in Cranes asks you to sign in. A chapter shared only with certain people opens only for them, signed in with the email it was shared with.
