Hand off a thread to another AI
Pack a thread’s work for a coding agent or another chat, with your thinking in it.
When the next step happens somewhere else, like building it in a coding agent, hand the thread off. Cranes packs where the work stands and what your thinking says about the work ahead, so the other AI starts where you left off.
Make a hand-off
- In the thread, open ⋯ beside its title and choose Hand off to another AI…
- Optionally, say what the other AI should do next.
- Choose Make hand-off.
The hand-off holds what the work is for, what’s decided and done, what’s still open, the next move, your own words from the thread, and guidance from your thinking written for that work.
Give it to your AI
- Copy for your AI copies a line to paste into an AI that has Cranes connected. It picks up the hand-off itself.
- Copy the whole hand-off copies everything, for an AI without Cranes.
Only people who can read the thread’s thinking can open the link, and only when they’re signed in. An AI picks it up only if its connection was given that thinking. Entries you keep off connected AIs never go in.
What comes back
The thread shows each hand-off and where it was picked up. When Cranes keeps your own thinking from that conversation, it appears under the hand-off in the thread, so the story of the work stays in one place.
