Words Cranes uses

Cranes uses ordinary words, but a few of them carry a specific meaning here.

Word	What it means in Cranes
Your thinking	The working draft of how you think. Only you can read it.
The team’s thinking	A shared draft of how a team does its work, read by everyone on the team.
Group	A few people who share one draft. A group’s thinking is titled with the group’s name.
Chapter	One thing Cranes has understood, such as a standard you hold, a distinction you draw, or a decision you keep making the same way.
Part	A set of related chapters. Cranes arranges them; you can rename and move.
Entry	One piece of exact material the thinking is drawn from: a message, a note, a file, an import, a Slack message.
Moment	An exact passage from an entry that a chapter rests on. “7 moments” under a chapter opens them.
Thread	A conversation inside Cranes. Your messages in it become entries.
Still forming	A section Cranes holds loosely because the evidence is thin or mixed.
Redrafted	The chapter was rewritten. Opening it shows what changed and what stayed.
Why it says this	The reasons behind a section, how it shapes answers, other ways to read it, and what would change it.
Brought in	What Cranes offered a reply in a thread, with where each piece came from.
Connected AI	An AI app, like ChatGPT or Claude, that you’ve let use your thinking.
Kept words	Your own ideas Cranes kept from a conversation with a connected AI, to learn from. The conversation appears in your threads list, marked with its app.
Learn now	Starts learning from waiting entries on shared thinking, instead of waiting for the nightly pass.
Workspace	Everything in one place: your personal workspace, or a team’s. Each has its own thinking for you.
Archive	Takes a chapter or part out of the book and out of what connected AIs receive, without deleting anything.
Adopted	A chapter a team’s owner or admin made the team’s position.
