What an entry is
The exact material behind your thinking, kept in the words it came in.
An entry is one piece of exact material your thinking is drawn from. Chapters are Cranes’ reading; entries are what it read. Every chapter points back to entries, and you can always open them.
Where entries come from
- A message you send in a thread
- A note or file you add
- History you bring in from another AI, files, or Notion
- An idea of yours kept from a conversation with a connected AI
- Something you asked a connected AI to save to Cranes
- A message in a Slack channel connected to the team or a group
Each entry belongs to exactly one place: your own thinking, the team’s, or one group’s. It starts in the narrowest place that fits. A message in your own thread goes into your own thinking; a message in a group thread goes into the group’s.
The Entries page
Choose Entries at the bottom of your contents. It lists everything your thinking is drawn from, newest first, grouped by day, with a search box at the top. On shared thinking, each entry also shows who added it.
Each entry shows where it came from: Thread, Note, File, a connected AI’s name, Imported from ChatGPT (or wherever), or Slack · #channel. A few flags may appear beside it:
- Written by Claude (or another AI’s name): the AI wrote this, not you. Usually a reply you asked it to save.
- Not learned from: you turned off learning for it.
- Kept off connected AIs: its words never reach connected AIs.
- Until a date: it will be deleted on that date.
Open an entry
Click an entry to read it in full. Below the text you’ll see which chapters it currently shapes, then its settings. Those are covered in Control how an entry is used.
Entries are never edited. If you want to say something differently, add a new note; if you want something gone, remove it.
